DOROTHY DOBSON'S OVER 60'S EXERCISE

A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION

The Principal activity of the company is the provision of exercise classes for the elderly at a reasonable cost calculated to recover the running costs of the company.

These classes originated in University of Dundee in 1978, when the concept of safe, appropriate exercise for people growing older was trialed. The method of exercise has evolved since the beginning and has, throughout the years, been rigorously researched by members of the medical profession in University of Dundee. Professor Marion E.T. McMurdo of the Department of Ageing and Health at Ninewells Hospital has led the way in this field. Exercises have been based on the findings of research projects and also our knowledge has increased as a result of feedback from class participants. All Leaders are fully qualified professional persons who have further trained in Dundee in the concept described.
